About us

building
Blunt Construction Limited (BCL) was established in 1998, following an internal restructuring of the company (which was originally founded in 1959). Since the 1980's the company sought industrial contracts and established a client base which BCL still continues to service. Targeting specifically local authorities; utilities and the industrial and commercial sectors, BCL's aim is to offers its clients a professional service providing efficient and cost effective construction solutions.

Our history

Blunt Brothers Ltd was set up in 1959 by five brothers Brian, David, Ronald, James and Tony Blunt. It worked mainly in the domestic market and undertook small developments throughout the Meon Valley area. The limited Company dissolved in 1976 and Blunt & Company was formed between Brian Blunt and Kevin Blunt (father & son). The company began to move away from the domestic market into the Industrial market and established a clientele that we still continue to serve today.

The partnership continued until 1998 when Brian Blunt retired and the company was reformed to a limited company - Blunt Construction Limited. The current owners are Kevin Blunt, Colin Brooks and Vivienne Brooks. It is still a family company - Vivienne and Kevin are brother and sister.

Blunt Construction Limited continued to consolidate its customer base and improve the company to provide a well appointed construction business suitable for the new millennium. In 2001, the company relocated to its current premises at The Old Fire Station, providing excellent links to the motorway network.

A strong emphasis on employee training and continual improvements with Blunt Construction Limited has enabled the company to achieve Investors in People in 2002 on its first attempt. In 2004, BCL successfully received re-accreditation to its Investors in People status.

We have also added specialist surface preparation equipment to the company in 2002 utilising dust free vacuum blasting equipment which can be used in occupied buildings to minimise disruption, but to enhance the preparation of multi substrate surfaces. This preparation provides an excellent surface to accept the application of maintenance solutions provided by BELZONA, MC-Bauchemie, Thortex, Resdev, Marley Waterproofing and Stirling-Lloyd.

In October 2003, the Board appointed Richard Beckett as Contracts Director to the Board. Richard provides a strong knowledge of maintenance solutions and contracts management skills.

In 2005, the enlargement of The Old Fire Station commenced, to accomodate the growth of the company, and completion was achieved, as programmed, with the formal 'occupation' on 1st December 2005.
